Jason Duncan is a Professor of History and Catholic Studies at Aquinas College in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He holds a Ph.D. in American History from the University of Iowa (1999), an M.A. in Russian Area Studies from Georgetown University, and a B.A. in Government from St. Lawrence University. His research focuses on U.S. political history, Catholicism's role in American politics, and Cold War liberalism. He has authored three books, including Citizens or Papists? (2005) and John F. Kennedy: The Spirit of Cold War Liberalism (2014), and is currently writing a book on the 1836 presidential election for University Press of Kansas.
Dr. Duncan has presented at major historical conferences such as the Society for Historians of the Early American Republic and the American Catholic Historical Association. His work frequently intersects with themes of religious politics, presidential campaigns, and ideological continuity. He has held academic fellowships at institutions including the Hauenstein Center for Presidential Studies and the Russell Kirk Center for Cultural Renewal.
He teaches American and Russian history courses and has co-directed Aquinas College's Ireland study abroad program. His recent invited lectures include discussions on Cold War liberalism and the legacy of John F. Kennedy.
