معرفی
Jason Dahl is a Professor and Department Chair of Ocean Engineering at the University of Rhode Island. His research focuses on fluid-structure interactions, vortex-induced vibrations, hydrodynamics, and biomimetic propulsion for underwater systems.
- Education: Ph.D. in Ocean Engineering from MIT (2008), B.S. in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering from Webb Institute (2002)
Dr. Dahl’s recent publications emphasize advanced computational modeling (e.g., Lattice-Boltzmann methods), experimental fluid dynamics (e.g., vortex shedding analysis), and applications to offshore renewable energy systems such as floating wind farms. His work bridges theoretical fluid mechanics with practical engineering solutions for underwater vehicles and ocean infrastructure.
Grants highlight collaborations with institutions like the Department of Energy, University of Connecticut, and Creare Inc., focusing on projects such as:
- Fluid-structure-interaction methodology for metamaterial coatings (2022)
- Optimization of floating offshore wind farms (2021)
- Machine-learning algorithms for undersea vehicle technology (2020)
- Ship motion prediction and hydrodynamic control systems (2017-2019)
He actively accepts graduate students and mentors teams in experimental and computational hydrodynamics at URI’s Narragansett Bay Campus.
