معرفی
Stéphan Grilli is a Professor in the Ocean Engineering department at the University of Rhode Island. His research focuses on Coastal Engineering, Ocean Wave Modeling, Natural Hazard and Tsunami Modeling, Fluid-Structure Interactions, and Wave Energy Systems.
- Ph.D. in Hydraulic and Ocean Engineering from the University of Liège, Belgium (1985)
- M.S. in Physical Oceanography from the University of Liège, Belgium (1983)
- M.S. in Civil Engineering from the University of Liège, Belgium (1980)
Dr. Grilli's work spans tsunami hazard assessment, landslide-induced tsunamis, wave-structure interactions, and numerical modeling techniques such as the Boundary Element Method and Lattice-Boltzmann Method. Recent publications analyze the 2018 Anak Krakatau eruption and the 1908 Messina tsunami, integrating advanced computational methods with field data.
His research trends emphasize multi-hazard modeling, hybrid numerical techniques, and coastal resilience strategies against climate change impacts and extreme events. Current projects involve collaboration with NOAA, National Science Foundation, and Creare LLC.
Dr. Grilli leads and contributes to grants totaling millions in funding, focusing on tsunami hazard mitigation, floating offshore wind farms, and storm surge prediction. He actively mentors students and collaborates on coastal barrier systems, underwater vehicle hydrodynamics, and renewable energy technologies.
