Jason Blaylock

Colonel Jason M. Blaylock is a Professor of Medicine at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences (USUHS) and serves as Director for Medicine at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center (WRNMMC). He specializes in infectious diseases with a focus on HIV medicine, tropical medicine, and military health policy. Dr. Blaylock holds leadership roles including ID Consultant to the U.S. Army Surgeon General and White House Medical Unit, and has extensive experience in clinical research, including dengue vaccine trials and HIV policy development.

Education: BS in Chemistry/Life Sciences (West Point, 2002), MD (Georgetown University School of Medicine, 2006). Completed residency in Internal Medicine (Tripler Army Medical Center, 2009) and Infectious Disease fellowship (Walter Reed Army Medical Center, 2012).

Research Interests: Tropical medicine, HIV management/prevention, viral diseases, and military health systems. His work spans clinical trials, public health policy, and humanitarian medical responses.

Awards: Includes James J. Leonard Teaching Award, Order of Military Medical Merit, and multiple military commendations for service in Afghanistan and disaster response operations.

Grants/Advising: Leads HIV policy initiatives and has advised on large-scale military health programs. Active in mentoring through ID fellowship programs and medical education initiatives.
