Dr. Jasna Kriz is a Professor at the Department of Psychiatry and Neurosciences, Faculty of Medicine, Université Laval. She serves as Deputy Director of the Integrative Neuroscience and Experimental Therapies axis at the CERVO Brain Research Centre.
- MD and PhD in Biomedicine & Health, University of Rijeka, Croatia
- Postdoctoral Training, Centre for Research in Neuroscience, McGill University (1999-2003)
Her research focuses on neuroinflammation and immune cell roles in brain diseases, particularly through bioluminescent/flourescent transgenic mouse models. Key projects include:
- Microglial immunomodulation in ALS/FTD
- Withanolide-based therapeutics for neurodegeneration
- SRSF3 targeting in cerebral ischemia
- Neonatal brain injury mechanisms
- Galectin-3 as an endogenous immunomodulator
Recent publications emphasize TDP-43 pathology, neuroinflammatory biomarkers, and translational profiling of immune responses across neurological conditions. Collaborations include the Canadian Consortium of Neurodegeneration and Aging (Team #2).
Scientific recognition includes:
- FRSQ Senior Scholar (2011-2015)
- CIHR Career Award (2006-2011)
- FRSQ Junior Scholar (2004-2007)
