Research Interests
Hodžić’s work integrates formal syntactic analysis with sociolinguistic inquiry. He investigates syntactic ambiguity, accentual variation in Neo-Štokavian standards, and the historical status of Bosnian. Cognitively oriented studies explore metaphor and conceptual framing in literary and religious texts, while sociolinguistic projects examine language policy, education, and identity in Bosnia-Herzegovina and the Sandžak region.
Recent publications reveal intensified attention to language ideology during the 1990s conflict, the codification of orthoepic norms, and the use of Ottoman-era sources to reconstruct linguistic history. Together, these strands position him as a leading voice in Bosniak linguistic scholarship.
