Jaroslav Z. Skira serves as the Inaugural Dean of Regis-St. Michael’s Faculty of Theology, a federation of Regis College and the University of St. Michael’s College at the University of Toronto. He holds the academic rank of Associate Professor of Historical Theology. His affiliations include the Sheptytsky Institute of Eastern Christian Studies and the Toronto School of Theology. Previously, he founded the Graduate Centre for Theological Studies at TST (2011–2017).
His research focuses on Eastern Orthodox Ecclesiology, Orthodox-Catholic ecumenical relations, and communion ecclesiology. He has engaged deeply with issues of church migration, inter-church dialogue, and the reception of Vatican II in Ukrainian communities. His work bridges academic theology with practical ecumenical engagement, emphasizing historical context and contemporary challenges in inter-Christian relations.
Key publications include edited volumes analyzing post-Balamand ecumenical relations, migration’s impact on global church structures, and the legacy of Metropolitan Maxim Hermaniuk in Ukrainian Catholic theology. These works reflect his commitment to fostering dialogue and preserving theological heritage in diasporic contexts.
