Jared Del Rosso is an Associate Professor and Department Chair of Sociology & Criminology at the University of Denver’s College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences. He joined the university in 2012 after completing his BA at Brandeis University (2003), MA (2007), and PhD (2012) in Sociology at Boston College. His research focuses on denial, birds’ cultural and ecological roles, and pedagogy. He authored Denial: How We Hide, Ignore, and Explain Away Problems (2022) and Talking About Torture (2015), and is writing a book on the Eastern Whip-poor-will’s cultural significance. Del Rosso volunteers with environmental organizations like Denver Field Ornithologists and High Line Canal Conservancy, and serves as a Faculty Fellow of Teaching & Learning.
