Janusz Zwiazek

Janusz Zwiazek is a Professor in the Renewable Resources Department at the University of Alberta's Faculty of Agricultural, Life and Environmental Sciences. His research focuses on tree physiology, particularly environmental stress effects on trees, including drought, pollution, and salinity. He investigates plant stress resistance mechanisms, aquaporin function in water transport, and ectomycorrhizal associations.

He teaches courses such as REN R 321/720 (Tree Physiology) and advanced tree physiology (REN R 421/521). His work includes studies on urban tree salt tolerance, oil sands reclamation, and physiological adaptations in boreal species.
