Janne Säntti serves as a University Lecturer and Docent at the University of Helsinki's Department of Educational Sciences within the Faculty of Educational Sciences. He holds multiple research leadership roles including supervisor in the Doctoral Program in School, Education, Society and Culture and membership in the AGORA Research Center for Social Justice and Equality in Education.
His research focuses on teacher education, history of education, and digitalization in educational contexts. Recent work examines teachers' handling of difficult topics in classrooms, rhetorical analysis of school competition discourse, and meaningful knowledge construction in teacher training. His 2025 publications explore healthy distances in educational disagreement and Nordic educational research networks.
Säntti leads multiple active research projects including Vaikeat aiheet ja keskustelukulttuuri koulutuksessa (2023-present) on difficult topics in education, and comparative studies on teacher education in Finland and Sweden. His publication record shows consistent output since 2003 with 55 research outputs including 24 articles, 18 book chapters, and 7 anthologies.
As an active academic, he serves as doctoral program supervisor, conference organizer, and editorial board member. His media engagement includes 5 significant press appearances discussing evidence-based school development and critical perspectives on educational digitalization.
