Janne Braband

Janne Braband is a Lecturer at the University of Hamburg's Faculty of Education within the Department of General, Intercultural and International Comparative Education. She coordinates the DivER research group (Diversity in Education Research) and leads projects on religious diversity in schools and multilingual pedagogy funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education.

Her research examines:

• Multilingual development in early childhood education settings
• Religious identity formation in school environments
• Antisemitism prevention through pedagogical interventions
• Parent-professional collaboration in multilingual contexts

Publications analyze subjective theories of multilingual upbringing among parents and educators, highlighting connections between language socialization and identity formation. Current BMBF-funded projects investigate religiously coded difference constructions in Hamburg's interreligious classroom settings.

Braband develops teacher training programs on multilingualism and antisemitism prevention, and serves on curriculum committees for intercultural education certification.
