Prof. Dr. Drorit Lengyel is a Professor of Educational Science in Multilingual Contexts at the University of Hamburg's Faculty of Education, affiliated with the Department of General, Intercultural and International Comparative Education as well as Educational Psychology (EW1). Her research focuses on multilingualism, intercultural education, and teacher training in diverse contexts. She leads the Diversity in Education Research (DivER) working group and has published extensively on topics like linguistic heterogeneity, pandemic impacts on education, and early literacy in multilingual settings. She is currently on a 2025 summer research sabbatical and will resume thesis supervision in October 2025. Her work emphasizes practical educational interventions, such as the 'Rucksack Schule' program, and spans international collaborations and policy-oriented studies.
Key roles include coordinating projects like ProfaLe (teacher education reform) and contributing to handbooks like the 'Handbuch Interkulturelle Pädagogik'. She frequently presents at conferences (e.g., ECER), lectures on multilingual childhoods, and collaborates with institutions globally.
