Janna McGaugh

Janna McGaugh, ScD, PT, OCS, FAAOMPT serves as the Associate Chair of Academics and Program Director of the Residential Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) program at the University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB). She holds the academic rank of Associate Professor with tenure in the Department of Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Sciences within the School of Health Professions.

Dr. McGaugh's educational background includes a Bachelor of Science in Nutritional Sciences from Texas A&M University, a Master of Physical Therapy from the University of Texas Health Science Center San Antonio, and a Doctor of Science from Texas Tech University Health Science Center.

Her primary research interests focus on advancing clinical reasoning skills in physical therapy education, particularly in:

• Development of assessment tools for clinical reasoning in DPT students and residents
• Musculoskeletal rehabilitation education methodologies
• Orthopedic physical therapy competency evaluation

Dr. McGaugh maintains distinguished professional credentials as an APTA Orthopedic Certified Specialist and a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic and Manual Physical Therapists. She teaches orthopedic evaluation and treatment in both the DPT program and orthopedic residency program.
