Janine Pinkow-Läpple

Janine Pinkow-Läpple is a doctoral student at the Leibniz Institute of Agricultural Development in Central and Eastern Europe (IAMO), affiliated with the Department of Agricultural Sector Framework Conditions and Policy Analysis (Agrarpolitik). Her research focuses on migration studies, particularly social/intangible remittances, gender norms, and development cooperation in Southeast Europe.

Her work explores how migration shapes social structures, with a regional emphasis on Kosovo and Croatia. She has contributed to the TRaFFF project and conducted qualitative research on topics like female return migration, rural entrepreneurship, and intangible remittance transfer.

Her recent publications analyze the transformative role of return migrants in Southeast Europe, focusing on (social) remittances, gender norm shifts, and development potential. Conference presentations highlight cross-border comparisons and transnational family/business dynamics.

She collaborates with Judith Möllers and Thomas Dufhues and has presented at IMISCOE, InASEA, and international conferences on migration and development.
