Dr. Janine M. Jones serves as the Associate Vice Chancellor for Graduate Affairs and the Anne and Michael Towbes Dean of the Graduate Division at UC Santa Barbara. She concurrently holds the rank of Professor in the Department of School Psychology at the Gevirtz Graduate School of Education. Her leadership roles include former Vice President for Professional Affairs with the American Psychological Association: Division 16 and current Board of Professional Affairs membership.
Her research focuses on culturally responsive interventions to address socio-emotional health disparities among students of color, emphasizing resilience, racial identity, and belonging. She contributed to the 2024 Aspen Institute report on the Youth Mental Health Crisis. Jones has authored over 50 publications, including the textbook The Psychology of Multiculturalism in the Schools, widely adopted in school psychology programs.
