Dr. Janine Bernhardt was a Research Fellow and former staff member of the "Work and Care" research group at the University of Trier. Her work focuses on intersections between gender, family dynamics, and labour market structures. She holds a PhD in Sociology (2013) from the University of Trier with a thesis exploring flexicurity institutions and job security perceptions.
Education includes Magister studies in Sociology, Economics, and Psychology from Friedrich-Schiller-University Jena and University of Aberdeen (2002-2008), followed by advanced graduate training at the IAAEG Graduate Centre in Trier (2008-2012).
Her research examines welfare state policies, social inequality linked to atypical employment, and work-family reconciliation strategies. Key projects include analysis of institutional conditions shaping nonstandard employment in Europe (2012-2014) and organizational factors enabling equitable work-family partnerships (2014-2016).
Her publications explore themes like institutional impacts on employment flexibility, regional differences in job security perceptions, and qualitative studies of employment contract dynamics. Current professional activities focus on transferring academic insights to policy contexts through engagement with institutions like A.T. Kearney Family Initiative 361°.
