Janine Barnett

Janine Barnett is a Lecturer and Clinical Coordinator at the University of Kentucky College of Nursing, joining the faculty in August 2023. She specializes in Maternity and Reproductive Health, Foundations of Health Promotion Principles, and Complementary Birth Methods courses. Additionally, she practices as a staff nurse in the Maternal-Fetal Medicine group at Baptist Health Lexington and facilitates tobacco cessation programs.

Her expertise spans perinatal nursing, maternal-fetal medicine, and health promotion through roles as a labor and delivery nurse, childbirth educator, obstetric clinical instructor, and perinatal research nurse coordinator. She previously served as Assistant Director of the University of Kentucky Perinatal Research and Wellness Center, managing research programs across clinical, community, and academic settings.

She is credentialed as a Tobacco Treatment Specialist, ACE-certified Group Fitness Instructor, Diabetes Prevention Program Lifestyle Coach, SCRIPT®️ Tobacco Treatment Counselor, American Heart Association Freedom from Smoking®️ Facilitator, CenteringPregnancy®️ Facilitator, and #iCANendthetrend facilitator. Her work focuses on advancing women's and family health in Kentucky.
