Janina Schwarz is a Research Fellow at the Institute for Critical Studies in Culture and History within the Department of Social Sciences and Philosophy at the University of Marburg. She is currently pursuing her doctoral degree, focusing on digital memory practices related to the Shoah.
Educational Background:
- M.A. in European Ethnology and Studies of Culture and History (2014–2018), University of Marburg
- B.A. in Comparative Studies in Culture and Religions (2011–2014), University of Marburg
Her research intersects historical anthropology, digital memory cultures, Holocaust studies, gender studies, and emotion research. Her Ph.D. project titled Experiencing the Shoah Digitally? Memory Practices in the Field of Tension between Technologies, Emotional Politics, and Temporality explores digital representations of Shoah memory through fieldwork in Hesse (2022). She also conducted presentations on topics like digital futures of Shoah memory (Hamburg, 2022) and gender dynamics in concentration camps (Marburg, 2019).
