Research Interests
Her research agenda centers on competence development of pre-service general education teachers. She investigates how supervised practical phases influence reflective skills, professional self-efficacy, and teaching-learning beliefs in the context of primary science education. Within the ITPP project (Integration of Theory and Practice – Partnership Schools) she designs and evaluates supportive measures that bridge university coursework and school practice, aiming to foster a research-oriented attitude among student teachers.
Publication Trends
Across more than a dozen peer-reviewed articles, book chapters, and conference contributions (2014-2021), Pawelzik consistently examines the interplay between mentored internships and pre-service teachers’ professional growth. Empirical studies using longitudinal designs and control-group comparisons reveal significant positive effects of structured reflection and mentoring on self-efficacy and reflective competence. The work is rooted in general education didactics and contributes to international debates on evidence-based teacher education.
