Janina Maultzsch

Professor Janina Maultzsch holds the Chair of Experimental Physics at Friedrich-Alexander University Erlangen-Nuremberg's Institute of Condensed Matter Physics. She leads an active research program in condensed matter physics and nanotechnology, with specialization in spectroscopic analysis of nanomaterials.

Her research investigates:

• Electronic and vibrational properties of carbon-based nanostructures (nanotubes, graphene, diamondoids)
• Interlayer interactions in 2D materials and heterobilayers
• Excitonic behavior and electron-phonon coupling in semiconductors
• Advanced spectroscopy techniques including Raman and tip-enhanced Raman scattering

She directs multiple DFG-funded projects including:

• 'Strong interlayer interactions in 2D pnictogen systems' (Priority Program)
• 'Excitons and phonons at interfaces in ultrathin semiconductors' (Collaborative Research Center)
• Participation in 'Planar carbon lattice' Research Training Group

Her laboratory capabilities include specialized instrumentation:

• Raman microscope for TERS applications
• Micro-PLE spectrometer with tunable laser
