Janina Becker

Janina Becker is a researcher in the Media Transformation department at the Leibniz Institute for Educational Media. Since 2019, she has served as the pedagogical head of the Institute’s digital lab, The Basement, where she coordinates technological and spatial design trends in digital education, develops innovative transfer formats, and supports colleagues via the Knowledge for the Market (WiMa) project. She studied 'The culture of the technical and scientific world' at TU Braunschweig and previously worked there (2016–2018) in media education, producing teaching guides for digital tools.

Her research focuses on digital education, media competence, and innovative transfer methods. She has published extensively on topics like media competence in schools and future classroom design, including editorship of the anthology Transformationen der Leistung in Schule und Bildungsmedien. Between 2018–2019, she taught academic writing at Xiamen University (VR China) as a Robert Bosch Stiftung Fellow, directing the Science-Culture-Slam.

Notable trends in her 2023 publications include the integration of media competence into school curricula, practical applications of digital tools, and the interplay between policy and teaching practices. She also explores virtual reality and postdigital education in projects like VRPR.
