Dr. Janice Lewis is an Honorary Senior Lecturer at Swansea University within the Faculty of Medicine Health and Life Science, School of Health and Social Care. She has worked at the university since 2005, following a 22-year NHS career in England and Wales. As Programme Director for the BSc Health and Social Care since 2019, she teaches modules on public health, policy, safeguarding, leadership, and organizational culture across undergraduate and postgraduate programs. Her doctoral research (2018) explored the intersection of health visiting professionals and policy-making using street-level bureaucracy and critical feminist theories.
Research interests include public health policy, health inequalities, and frontline professional influence on policy. She supervises PhD students in topics like pediatric healthcare management and clinical governance. Key projects include the £72k Academi Wales-NHS Wales Graduate Management Scheme (2016-2018). Fluent in Welsh, she designs culturally responsive curricula such as SHG016W (Welsh in Healthcare).
