Dr. Janice Chik Breidenbach is an Associate Professor of Philosophy at Ave Maria University and Director of its Philosophy M.A. Program. She holds affiliations at Oxford’s Aquinas Institute (Blackfriars Hall) and the University of Pennsylvania’s Program for Research on Religion and Urban Civil Society. Previously, she served as Visiting Professor of Humanities at the University of Florida’s Hamilton Center (2023) and Barry Research Fellow/Lecturer at the University of Pennsylvania (2019-2020).

Research Interests: Her work bridges Aristotelian-Thomistic philosophy with contemporary debates in action theory, metaphysics, and political philosophy. Key themes include hylomorphism, agency’s temporal structure, Thomistic animalism, and philosophical approaches to religious exercise. She integrates historical philosophy with modern analytical methods.
Publications & Talks: Recent articles focus on hylomorphism, temporal agency, and Thomistic frameworks. She has presented at institutions like Oxford, Cambridge, Notre Dame, and KU Leuven. Her work is supported by grants from the Royal Institute of Philosophy and others.
