Professor Janet Stewart serves as Executive Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities at Durham University, responsible for strategic development, financial performance, and academic leadership since her appointment. She joined Durham in 2014 as Professor of German and Visual Culture in the School of Modern Languages and Cultures (MLAC) and previously served as Head of School from 2015 to 2018.

Stewart's research spans visual culture, energy humanities, and Central European cultural history, examining intersections of visual representation, energy systems, and socio-political narratives.
