Janet P. Stamatel

Janet P. Stamatel is a Professor of Sociology and Director of Graduate Studies at the University of Kentucky. Her research focuses on global criminology, political sociology, and quantitative methods, with a specialization in crime variation across nations and the impact of political regimes on social disorder. She leads the War & Gender Work Group and is affiliated with the Center for Equality and Social Justice and the Cooperative for the Humanities and Social Sciences (CHSS). Her work emphasizes post-communist Central and Eastern Europe, particularly examining violence against women and homicide rates.
