Janet McDonald is an Adjunct Associate Professor at the School of Creative Arts, University of Southern Queensland (USQ). She currently serves as the Theatre Discipline Convenor and has held leadership roles such as Head of the School of Creative Arts (2008-2013) and Chair of Youth Arts Queensland (2008-2012).
- Education: PhD in Performing Arts from Arizona State University (1999), MA and BA from Queensland University of Technology (QUT), and Diplomate in Teaching (DipT).
Research interests focus on gender construction and performance in actor-training, regional youth and arts sustainability, and wellbeing and resilience through the arts. Her work emphasizes community cultural development, landscapes of practice in arts learning, and reflexive and reflective practice in theatre training.
Scientific awards include a 2009 Australian Learning and Teaching Council Citation for student learning contributions and a Fellow of King's College (St Lucia, Brisbane).
Teaching experience spans 21 years in tertiary education, including courses like Introduction to Creative Practice and Children's and Young People's Theatre. She has served on advisory roles for Arts Queensland grants and institutions like the Flying Arts Alliance and Cobb&Co Museum.
