Dr. Janet Mack is a Reader in Accounting and Finance at Aston University's Aston Business School, part of the College of Business and Social Sciences. Her research focuses on public sector and not-for-profit accounting, decision-making accountability, and gender diversity in leadership roles. She holds a PhD from Queensland University of Technology (2004) and a Postgraduate Certificate in Learning and Teaching in Higher Education from Aston University (2022).
Teaching: Extensive experience in financial accounting education across all levels, including curriculum design and module development.曾 served as Honours Programme Co-ordinator at QUT. Supervised numerous PhD, Master’s, and Honours students.
Research Interests: Investigates utility of financial information in public/nonprofit sectors and corporate governance gender dynamics. Key external partnerships include audit committee roles with Queensland Department of Child Safety and Cannon Hill Anglican School. Secured over $350,000 in research funding from organizations such as the Local Government Association of Queensland and the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants.
Awards: Recipient of the 2007 Writer in Residence Grant from QUT. Her work has been published in journals like Journal of Public Budgeting, Accounting and Financial Management and Accounting and Finance.
Grants/Projects: Notable projects include regional asset mapping ($17,500, 2020) and local government water service management research ($36,400, 2018). Led the Not-for-Profit Accounting and Accountability Research Group ($250,000 grant, 2012).
