Janet Currie is the Henry Putnam Professor of Economics and Public Affairs at Princeton University, affiliated with the Princeton School of Public and International Affairs. She co-directs the Center for Health and Wellbeing at Princeton and the Program on Families and Children at the National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER). Her research focuses on child development, health disparities, environmental health risks, and mental health impacts. She holds leadership roles in multiple prestigious organizations, including upcoming presidency of the American Economic Association (2024).
Currie is a member of numerous distinguished academies and societies, including the National Academy of Sciences and National Academy of Medicine. Her honors include the 2023 Klaus J. Jacobs Research Prize and recognition as one of the World Economic Forum's Top 10 Women in Economics (2015). She has served on editorial boards of major journals and holds honorary degrees from international universities.
Her work bridges economics and public policy, addressing long-term health outcomes from early childhood and environmental factors.
