Adriana Lleras-Muney

Adriana Lleras-Muney is a Professor of Economics at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), within the Department of Economics. She holds affiliations with the National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER), California Center for Population Studies (CCPR), and the Health and Development Working Group at UCLA. Previously, she was an Assistant Professor at Princeton University before joining UCLA. She earned her Ph.D. in Economics from Columbia University.

Her research focuses on the interplay between socioeconomic factors and health outcomes, particularly analyzing how education, income, and historical policies like the Mother’s Pension program and Civilian Conservation Corps influence long-term child development. She has published in top journals including the American Economic Review, Econometrica, and Quarterly Journal of Economics.

Lleras-Muney serves as an associate editor for the Journal of Health Economics and on editorial boards for the American Economic Review and Demography. She has held roles on the NIH Social Sciences and Population Studies Study Section and the American Economic Association Executive Committee.
