Dr. Janet Brown serves as the Residential Department Chair and Associate Professor in the Family & Consumer Sciences Department at Liberty University's College of Arts & Sciences. She specializes in Family and Child Development with interdisciplinary expertise in Christian Counseling and Education Administration.

- Ed.D. in Educational Leadership, Liberty University
- M.A. in Human Services: Christian Ministries, Liberty University
- B.S. in Psychology with Minor in Christian Counseling, Liberty University
Research interests focus on Family Systems Theory, Aging, and Family Stress dynamics. Her 2025 publication explores Christian higher education faculty perceptions of institutional service expectations and job satisfaction. Dr. Brown co-authored an ILLUminate Grant (2022) supporting Aging Simulation Equipment development through Liberty's Center for Teaching Excellence.
Professional memberships include American Association of Family & Consumer Sciences (AAFCS), National Council of Family Relations (NCFR), and Society for the Psychological Study of Social Issues (SPSSI). She teaches courses like FACS 204 (Family & Child Development) and FACS 475 (Families Under Stress).
Outside academia, Dr. Brown is Vice President of NextGenMatters, LLC, and actively serves in church ministries focusing on children, youth, and women's outreach.
