Jane Rebecca Taylor is the Charles B.G. Murphy Professor of Psychiatry, Psychology, and Neuroscience at Yale School of Medicine. With a BSc from University of Sussex (1981) and PhD from Cambridge (1985), she has made seminal contributions to understanding cortico-striatal circuitry in addiction and psychiatric disorders.

Her research integrates behavioral neuroscience, neurogenetics, and computational psychiatry to investigate decision-making and memory reconsolidation mechanisms. Special focus on sex differences in addiction, including chromosomal XX/XY distinctions independent of hormones.
Recent work spans opioid-neurochemical interactions (Journal of Clinical Investigation 2024), thalamo-cortical paranoia mechanisms (Cell Reports 2024), and social neuroscience applications (Biological Psychiatry 2024). Her studies employ preclinical models, human neuroimaging, and machine learning approaches.
