Jane Middelton-Moz is an Associate Professor at the Factor-Inwentash Faculty of Social Work, University of Toronto. She directs the Middelton-Moz Institute and has 40+ years of experience in consultation, training, and community intervention. Her expertise spans multi-generational trauma, shame dynamics, Indigenous trauma resiliency, and organizational trauma-informed care. She co-leads a SSHRC-funded research project on Japanese Canadian intergenerational trauma (2017-2020).
- Education: MS in Clinical Psychology
Research focuses on: multi-generational grief, trauma effects in communities, cultural identity restoration, and lateral violence mitigation. She developed the MSW Indigenous Trauma and Resiliency (ITR) Field of Study and teaches trauma-related courses.
Recognition includes Board service with NACOA and NANACOA, and media features in U.S. News & World Report, The Washington Post, and National Film Board documentaries like 'Healing the Hurts of Mission School.'
