Jane Lecomte is a Professor at the University of Paris-Saclay, leading the Ecological Trajectories and Society team at the Ecology, Society and Evolution Laboratory (IDEEV). Her research bridges ecological dynamics with societal challenges, focusing on biodiversity conservation in anthropised landscapes and agroecosystems.
Her work spans three key research themes: (i) population viability and genetic flows in fragmented landscapes, (ii) eco-evolutionary dynamics of biodiversity in agricultural systems, and (iii) interdisciplinary scenarios integrating human and non-human trajectories in conservation sciences. She developed a metapopulation approach to connect local population dynamics with landscape-scale processes, notably studying viviparous lizards and ecological risks of transgenic crops.
Jane collaborates with ecologists, philosophers, sociologists, and anthropologists, co-developing an evocentric ethical framework with François Sarrazin (Sorbonne University). This approach integrates evolutionary biology and human sciences to address conservation implementation challenges.
