Jane E. Blood-Siegfried, PhD, RN, CPNP, is a Professor at Duke University School of Nursing and an affiliate of the Duke Global Health Institute. She also serves as a lecturer at the University for Developmental Studies in Tamale, Ghana, and holds clinical practice as a pediatric nurse practitioner at Oak Island Pediatrics in Southport, North Carolina.
Education:

Research Interests:
Her research centers on the immunological and neurobiological mechanisms behind Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS), particularly how upper respiratory infections and prenatal nicotine exposure impact infant immune systems. She explores cytokine biomarkers and dual infection models (URI + bacterial sepsis) to understand SIDS susceptibility.
Clinical Practice:
In addition to her academic roles, she provides primary and behavioral care to 30–40 patients daily in a rural setting, specializing in ADHD and pediatric chronic/acute conditions.
Global Initiatives:
As Director of Global Educational Partnerships and Innovation, she facilitates international clinical experiences for graduate students and leads efforts to establish a Family Nurse Practitioner Program at Kilimanjaro Christian Medical Center in Tanzania.

With over 30 years of experience in nurse practitioner education, she mentors students in Duke’s MSN and DNP programs and supports global health trainees in Ghana and Tanzania.
