Jane Brackley is a PhD Researcher at the Cambridge Institute for Music Therapy Research, affiliated with the Faculty of Arts, Humanities, Education and Social Sciences at Anglia Ruskin University. Her work focuses on music therapy's role in supporting identity development among adolescents with adverse childhood experiences and trauma.
- Education: MA in Music Therapy (Distinction, Anglia Ruskin University), PGCE in Secondary and Instrumental Music Teaching, PG Cert in Piano Accompaniment, BA (Hons) in Music, and Certificate in Child and Adolescent Counselling.
Jane's research integrates psychoanalytic theory, neuroscience, and trauma-informed models to enhance music therapy practices in alternative education settings. Her work addresses the intersection of trauma, identity formation, and therapeutic approaches for adolescents at risk of exclusion.
Jane's publications reflect her expertise in music therapy for children and adolescents, including a book chapter on aggressive behavior in schools and a review of community music therapy frameworks. Her recent articles emphasize school-based interventions, trauma-informed care, and neuroscientific applications in therapeutic practices.
Jane is supervised by Prof Jörg Fachner, Dr Philip Kirkman, and Prof Helen Odell-Miller, working within the Cambridge Institute for Music Therapy Research.
