Janay Nugent

Janay Nugent serves as Associate Professor in the Department of History and Associate Dean in the Faculty of Arts and Science at the University of Lethbridge, where she has held faculty positions since 2003 and assumed administrative leadership in 2020.

Her educational foundation includes a B.A. (with distinction) in History from the University of Lethbridge (1995), and M.A. (1997) and Ph.D. (2004) in History/Scottish Studies from the University of Guelph. She maintains active teaching roles across History, Women and Gender Studies, and Liberal Education programs.

Dr. Nugent's research specializes in children and youth studies, gender and family history, and early modern Scottish society, with particular focus on Reformation-era social structures. Her work examines parenting, marriage authority, and servant relationships through meticulous archival analysis.

Her scholarly recognition includes the Distinguished Teaching Award (2016) and University of Lethbridge Students' Union Teaching Excellence Award (2015), reflecting her commitment to pedagogy across multiple disciplines.
