Jana Walkowski is a doctoral candidate and Research Fellow in the Department of Political Studies at Queen’s University, specializing in international relations and comparative politics. Her research focuses on migration studies, global political economy, and urban geography, particularly examining the governance of refugee housing crises in Berlin and Toronto. She holds a master’s degree from McGill University and a bachelor’s from Queen’s University.

Her research explores multi-scalar governance of displacement, analyzing how power dynamics shape refugee access to shelter. She combines critical visual discourse analysis with comparative case studies to interrogate border policies and development mechanisms.
