Dr. Jana Morgan is Professor of Political Science at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. She holds a PhD from UNC Chapel Hill and directs research on inequality, representation, and democratic institutions, with regional expertise in Latin America.
Research examines how economic/social inequalities affect marginalized groups' political influence, using field research from Venezuela, Peru, Ecuador, Chile, and Dominican Republic. Publications analyze party system collapse, gender politics, and redistributive policy attitudes.
Award-winning books include 'Bankrupt Representation and Party System Collapse.' Articles demonstrate methodological diversity from survey analysis to experimental designs exploring structural inequality impacts.
Funded by Russell Sage Foundation and Pew Foundation, current projects investigate racial inequality's effects on democratic commitments. Teaches graduate courses in comparative parties, gender marginalization, and qualitative methods.
Advises multiple PhD students and serves as Associate Editor for Latin American Research Review.
