Her research focuses on 'welcoming spaces' in shrinking areas of the Netherlands, exploring how such spaces can connect diverse populations and revitalize regions. This work is part of the EU Horizon 2020-funded Welcoming Spaces project, coordinated by Prof. Annelies Zoomers and Dr. Karin Geuijen.
Education includes a Master's in International Migration and Social Cohesion (joint program from University of Amsterdam, University College Dublin, and University of Deusto) and a BSc in Liberal Arts and Sciences from Amsterdam University College.
Her expertise spans migration policy, cultural diversity in education, and gender studies. Pre-PhD, she served as a junior lecturer at the University of Amsterdam, teaching political science and gender/sexuality studies courses.
The Welcoming Spaces project (2020-2024) investigates synergies between migrant integration and regional revitalization through 50 European case studies. It analyzes public discourse, geographic contexts, and migrant-local capacities using a multidisciplinary approach.
