Jana Arsovska is an Associate Professor of Sociology and co-director of the International Criminal Justice BA Program at John Jay College of Criminal Justice, part of The City University of New York. She holds a Ph.D. and has expertise in International Criminology, Crime & Justice in the Balkans, and Transnational Crime. A graduate of the American College of Thessaloniki (ACT) class of 2003, her career combines academia with consultancy for institutions like the World Bank, UN, and DCAF.
Education:
- Bachelor’s in International Relations from ACT, Greece
- Further studies in the U.S. and Belgium
Her research focuses on organized crime dynamics in the Balkans, globalization’s impact on criminal networks, and policy interventions. Notable work includes her award-winning 2015 book *Decoding Albanian Organized Crime*, which challenges myths about Albanian mafias. She has received prestigious awards from criminology and criminal justice organizations.
