معرفی
Jan van Ruitenbeek is a Professor of Experimental Physics at Leiden University's Faculty of Science and leads the Van Ruitenbeek Lab within the Leiden Institute of Physics (LION). His research focuses on quantum transport phenomena in nanoscale systems, including single-molecule junctions, graphene-based DNA sequencing, and filamentary conduction mechanisms in resistive memory devices. He has developed novel experimental techniques like 3D motion-tracking STM systems and collaborated with institutions such as Delft University of Technology.
- Awarded Royal Honour in 2021
- Active research areas: quantum matter, molecular electronics, and nanoscale manipulation
- Supervises current PhD candidates including Norman Blümel
- Former PhD candidates include Sumit Tewari and Sander Blok
- Key projects: single-molecule junctions (2025), graphene-graphene edge tunnel junctions for biomolecule sequencing
