Jan Willem Alffenaar

Jan Willem Alffenaar is a Professor at the University of Groningen's Faculty of Medical Sciences, affiliated with the Microbes in Health and Disease department (MHD). His research focuses on optimizing antimicrobial therapy through pharmacokinetics (PK) and pharmacodynamics (PD), particularly for antifungal agents and anti-TB drugs. He explores therapeutic drug monitoring, PK modeling, and alternative sampling strategies (e.g., dried blood spots, oral fluid) to balance treatment efficacy and toxicity.
