Dr. Jan Tams is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Dentistry within the Faculty of Medical Sciences at the University of Groningen. He also holds a position as Senior Project Employee at the Academic Centre for Dentistry Amsterdam (ACTA). His academic work focuses on dental education curriculum development, geriatric dentistry, and clinical decision-making for elderly patients.
Dr. Tams has developed expertise in multiple critical areas of dentistry including gerodontology, dental education methodologies, and pharmacological prescribing practices in dental care. His research particularly examines how dental education can better prepare practitioners to address the unique oral health needs of aging populations.
His publication record shows a consistent focus on improving dental education standards, with particular attention to geriatric dental care. Recent work has examined root remnant management in frail elderly patients, dental prescribing competency, and curriculum development for future dental professionals.
