معرفی
Jan Jílek is an Assistant Professor at the Institute of Archaeology and Museology within the Faculty of Arts at Masaryk University in Brno, Czech Republic. His academic work focuses on Roman archaeology, Classical archaeology, and Iron Age studies in Central Europe, with particular emphasis on Moravian archaeology and the Central European Barbaricum region.
His research interests span Roman provincial archaeology, material culture analysis, ancient metallurgy, settlement patterns, and burial practices. Jílek has published extensively on Roman period artifacts, Iron Age settlements, and the cultural interactions between Roman and Barbarian communities in Central Europe.
Jílek's recent publications demonstrate a strong focus on Roman period artifacts (pottery, metal objects, lighting devices), settlement archaeology, and the transition between the Roman period and Migration Period. His work often involves detailed analysis of specific artifact types (such as button spurs, jug handles, and lanterns) within their broader cultural and chronological contexts.
His research methodology combines traditional archaeological analysis with experimental approaches, as evidenced by studies on ancient casting technologies and metallurgical practices. Jílek frequently collaborates with other archaeologists across Central Europe, reflecting the transnational nature of his research interests.
His teaching responsibilities include Roman archaeology courses, as indicated by his involvement in creating educational materials titled "Základy římské archeologie" (Basics of Roman Archaeology) and its e-learning version.
Professionally, Jílek participates in academic conferences and meetings of classical archaeologists, contributing to the scholarly community through both his research presentations and organizational roles.
