Prof. Jan Hoffenaar is a Professor of Military History at Utrecht University's Department of History and Art History, affiliated with the Humanities Research Institute for History and Art History. He also serves as Head of the Scientific Research Department at the Netherlands Institute for Military History (NIMH) in The Hague. His expertise focuses on Cold War military and political dynamics, Dutch military history, and decolonization conflicts.
Education:
- PhD in History from Leiden University (1997)
- Master's in Modern History from the Free University of Amsterdam (1985)
- Extensive military training including Top Management Defence Course (2005) and Defense Policy Development Course (1998)
