Jan Hjelte is an Associate Professor at the Department of Social Work, Umeå University, Sweden. His research focuses on the intersection of social work, technology integration, and knowledge governance in public sector organizations, particularly in rural municipalities and elderly care services.
- Current projects include analyzing the implications of robots and AI in social services, capability-adjusted life years (CALY-SWE) for health economics, and regional collaboration in welfare policy.
- He leads the Profession, Organisation, and Collaboration research group and contributes to the AI and Society initiative.
Recent publications explore ethical frameworks for medication-dispensing robots, policy evaluations of youth employment programs, and the impact of knowledge governance models. His work combines empirical studies with theoretical advancements in social work methodologies.
Jan Hjelte actively collaborates across disciplines, including public health and economics, to address societal challenges through evidence-based interventions. He has secured research funding, including a grant of 1 million SEK from Forte (Swedish Research Council for Health, Working Life, and Welfare).
