Jan-Henrik Nilsson is an Associate Professor and Senior Lecturer at Lund University, where he has been affiliated since 2000. He holds a PhD in Human Geography and previously worked as a schoolteacher for 11 years. His academic contributions focus on tourism studies, emphasizing service management and transdisciplinary approaches. He co-leads research projects on 'New Urban Tourism' and 'Ecosystem Services in Urban Tourism,' blending urban studies with sustainable practices.
Nilsson’s teaching is grounded in his dual role as an educator and researcher, ensuring students benefit from cutting-edge insights. The Master of Science in Tourism program he contributes to emphasizes urban tourism, differing from rural-focused programs in Sweden. Graduates are prepared for roles in hospitality, destination marketing, and management.
Outside academia, Nilsson is a reserve sergeant in the bicycle infantry and a licensed white water rafting guide. His unconventional hobbies, like printing a thesis with fluid paint, reflect his creative spirit.
