Jan Grey

Dr. Jan Grey is a Researcher at the Institute for General Education, University of Duisburg-Essen, focusing on digitalization in teacher education and its integration into social studies. Since August 1, 2025, he has held the position of Akademischer Rat (Academic Councilor), having previously served as a Scientific Assistant at the same institute since November 2020. His work emphasizes multi-perspective and networking principles in general education and computational thinking in primary schools.

His doctoral research, completed in March 2024 and defended in November 2024, investigated success factors and diffusion mechanisms of digital education in university-based teacher training using a mixed-methods approach. He contributed to the development of Open Educational Resources (OER) and authored approved funding proposals.

Dr. Grey is affiliated with the eLSa teaching and learning laboratory (Lehr-Lern-Labor eLSa), participating actively in workshops and training courses. His research also explores the intersection of digital technology and general studies, with a focus on organizational implementation of digital education in educational institutions.

At the University of Duisburg-Essen, he supports academic initiatives through project days and is involved in curriculum development for the Master’s program in General Education. His office is located in room SR107 at Schützenbahn 70, Essen.
