Jan Gourd

Jan Gourd is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Education at Marjon University, serving as Programme Leader for Qualifications. With a BEd (Hons) and MEd, their expertise spans Early Years policy, children’s writing, and the impact of technology on pedagogy. They contributed to the EXEL project (1990–1994), focusing on children’s writing and pedagogical documentation. Publications include a co-edited book on Early Years Policy and an article on needs analysis in early education. Previous roles include primary teacher, headteacher, and leader of Plymouth’s Able and Talented provision, alongside EYPS assessor experience. Their work bridges policy, practice, and innovative teaching methods in early childhood education.
