Jan Geertzen is a Professor of Rehabilitation Medicine at the University of Groningen, affiliated with the Faculty of Medical Sciences and the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine at the UMCG. He serves as Head of the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine and holds leadership roles in various professional organizations. His research focuses on lower extremity amputation, prosthetics, complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS), and phantom pain, with a recent emphasis on nutritional care and cardiorespiratory fitness in amputees. He has published over 389 peer-reviewed articles and actively participates in academic conferences and editorial work.
